MIDLANDS WEST (LB12) BRANCH - MEETINGS 2006.

 

Dear Member

 

As the Secretary of  the Midlands West Branch of the Benenden Healthcare Society I am very aware that not all our members are able to attend meetings held in Birmingham and I have to admit that this causes me considerable concern, mainly because I have always believed that the best interests of both the Society and its membership can only be served if as many members as possible are able to participate in the democratic process of debate and discussion on all issues relating to the management, organisation and future policy of our Society.

 

This position can only be achieved by more member participation at Branch meetings. However, this is more easily said than done, because although we have around eight thousand members registered to the Midlands West Branch we only have direct contact addresses for one hundred and ten of those members.

 

Of these, the majority, sixty eight, live in Birmingham, with five in Rugby, four in Coventry, five in Worcester, four in Malvern,  five in Stourbridge/Halesowen, three in Dudley and the rest made up of single members stretching from Rugeley to Evesham and Market Bosworth to Bridgenorth.

 

The Branch Officers and I have already arranged three meetings, dates shown below, to be held in Birmingham in 2006. However, we would be quite happy to organise meetings in other areas if we could be sure that a dozen or so members would be willing to attend but, without contact addresses this aim is impossible. Therefore I would urge any members who wish to participate in Branch business or who would just like more information about the Society or Branch activities to contact me at the address shown above.

 

BRANCH MEETINGS ARRANGED FOR 2006 ARE:-

 

Annual General Meeting - 21st February -  Elects Branch Officers, Committee & Conference Delegates.

                                                                        Also debates propositions to Conference and nominations to the Committee of Management. 

 

Branch Meeting           -   9th May                Discusses the propositions to Annual Conference and instructs the Branch Delegates how to vote.

 

Meeting                        - 17th  October         Discusses the outcome of Annual Conference and any preparations necessary for the forthcoming Branch AGM

 

All these meetings will be held in Birmingham, the time and place will be sent with the meeting agenda.
